Godfrey Wines

godfreywines

Sandy Godfrey was referred to me by another client.

In June 2008, Lisa and Sandy Godfrey decided to create an outlet for their favourite wine styles from South Australia. They do not have a winery, nor do they own vineyards, but they search the countryside looking for parcels of extraordinary fruit that can be used to make the styles of wine they love to drink.

As Godfrey Wines was a brand new entity the first thing they required was for me to design a logo for the company, I put a number of concepts together and what you see on their website and wines is the result.

After several more discussions with Sandy we designed a website featuring:

  • Online shop

Integrated with a 3rd party payment gateway to allow Godfrey Wines to sell directly to the public and receive immediate payment into their bank account.
  • Security

We added a secure certificate and dedicated IP address to ensure client security when ordering products or accessing the members area.
  • Member Login

with full order history and management.
  • Newsletter subscriptions

All visitors (members & guests) can easily add their email address to subscribe to periodic newsletters.
A newsletter template allows Sandy to easily change the basic text, click "send emails" and all registered subscribers are automatically emailed.
To comply with federal privacy laws, each email also includes an automatic un-subscribe link.

Barossa Rose & Flower Show

roseshow

Giving back to the community.

The Barossa  Rose & Flower Show was originally built by another web designer who eventually was unable to host or support the site.  In 2008 the site was transferred to my server for hosting.  In 2009 the organisers contacted me requesting help as they were having numerous difficulties updating the content for the upcoming show.  After evaluating the current CMS they were using and discovering many shortcomings, including major security issues and "a rather ugly site" I decide that it would be better to start from scratch and build a site that not only looked better but offered the tools needed for participants to register for the show, the only problem was "$$$".  Now I may be an old softy, but I love building websites so I decide that this is one of those jobs that was worth doing for the community (isn't this what community spirit is all about).

The final product is now visually appealing & functional, but most importantly is now easier to use & secure.

After this years show, all of the current events and content can be archived so in 2010 visitors will still be able to access the 2009 information to see who won each event.

Illona Glastonbury

Illona Glastonbury

Illona Glastonbury is a local artist who wanted to showcase her work to the world.

In Illonas' own words

It is important that I am able to manage the site and update details, upload images and write in my blog at will, and looking at your web site it looks like that might be just the kind of thing you are into making.  If you have any questions about what I have sent through please do not hesitate to contact me."

Illona sent me the above request, together with a dozen or so "pages" that she created using Microsot Word®.

Illonas site combines the following features:

  • Gallery:

This allows Illona to upload her artwork.  The gallery automatically creates thumbnail images on the home page, as visitors move their mouse over each thumnail a full size image is displayed above.
  • Blog:

With the blog component Illona can easily add daily updates letting her friends and fans know exactly what she is doing.  Her fans are also able to leave their own comments.
  • Weblinks

These allow Illona to quickly add links to other websites that she wants to share. Each link displays the name of the site with a short description. The weblink module then looks up the actual site and creates a thumbnail image so if the site is updated a new thumbnail is automatically created and placed on Illonas page.
